  • Foseti shares his heretical views on the defeat of communism. Or perhaps we should put scare quotes around defeat? I’ve often asked myself the same question: If it’s true that communism was defeated, how is it that the West keeps getting more communist-y?

  • As a lot of people have noticed, the Boston Marathon bombers are pretty sexy. Have any recent female criminals qualified as hotties? Amanda Knox and Casey Anthony spring to mind — or do they not qualify as criminals? Whatever they qualify as, I’d like to have a no-holds-barred, this-might-be-illegal threesome with the two of them. And how about that sexy Russian spy from a few years back?

Amanda Knox was innocent, and the Russian spy was only serving her country, so, yeah, if I was single, I’d say “bring it on!” with those two, but a woman who kills her kid is a bit much, even for someone as superficial as me. Yeah, I know, both she and Knox were both found innocent, but the Knox charges were obviously trumped up BS, while Anthony… not so sure.

  2. So shoot me (and if you don’t she probably would), I find Jodi Arias pretty hot. Have you wasted any of your life following the trial? It *is* pretty fascinating.

“Amanda Knox was innocent”: not so; her appeal is being retried, isn’t it?

Yeah, but that tells you more about the Italian “justice” system than it does Amanda Knox. From everything I’ve read, it was pretty obvious that she was innocent of murder, whatever else she may have gotten up to. And yes, Jodie Arias is pretty cute.

“From everything I’ve read”: ah, you mean she’s innocent on account of being American whereas Italians are just wops?

Certainly not – Personally, I prefer most wo…Italian people to Americans. But the prosecutor was a wackjob, and from the evidence, it’s pretty obvious that Knox’s roommate was killed by the African immigrant, not by Knox. Know was certainly no moral paragon, but the prosecutor’s theory about cults and witchcraft and all was verging on deranged. And as for the quality of the Italian justice system, I’d urge you to talk to some Italians who have been caught up in its toils. Of course, I could be wrong, but it certainly looks to me like Knox and her boyfriend were railroaded by an overzealous prosecutor. I’ve even heard of such things happening here, for that matter. For what it’s worth, Steve Sailer agrees with me

Of course, maybe he’s just another wop-hating uber-nationalist too.

With regard to Foseti, it was only Soviet Communism that was defeated. That was no small accomplishment, but there were plenty of people in this country who sympathized with the old Evil Empire, and they have prospered like the proverbial bay tree. I mean, look who’s president. But in all honesty, communism is a bad idea, and bad ideas never completely go away. I have no doubt that there will still be people pimping for communism in 500 years.

It’s an interesting question in part because it requires you to define what is meant by “communism.” Clearly, the U.S. has never been a communist country in the way the USSR was. But the ideological roots of today’s Western ruling class are all bound up with Marxism and related ideas. I have some sympathy for the idea — expressed by Foseti — that the Cold War was basically a schism between two factions of one Marxist-influenced ideology. It makes more sense to me than the simple black-and-white diagram that I learned in school. And any way you cut it, there is no doubt that international leftism of the Marx-derived sort is still a very big thing — even if the Soviets aren’t around any longer.

Oh, yeah, possibly bigger than ever, but their protective coloration has gotten a lot better. Flat-out Soviet-style communism was too obviously predatory, what with all that mass murder, famines, and all, but do it slower, in increments, and say it’s for “the children” or to “save the planet” and you can implement a really astonishing amount of the commie agenda. But with regard to Foseti, it’s also important to remember that many members of our ruling class were actually on the Soviet side, not ours. He’s on to something, but it’s a lot more complcated than he sees. Moldbug has a better handle on it, at least when he’s not in one of his “Ike was a Communist” (!) moods.

  7. I’ve read a few articles and watched one long TV doc, but otherwise I don’t know much about the Amanda Knox story. Apparently the African guy’s DNA was everywhere, which was enough to convince me that she’s innocent. Is there much of a case to be made that Amanda’s guilty?

I didn’t pay much attention, but I seem to remember there were some weird aspects to the behavior of Amanda and her boyfriend. They changed stories or something like that. Other than that, it didn’t seem super strong to me.

Actually, the Anthony case seemed pretty lame too. I mean, I think we can all agree she may very well have had something to do with it, but there was no solid evidence. I think it was Auster who predicted she would get off. He was right.

I can see why they found her innocent – reasonable doubt and all – but personally, I think that she did it.
