My wife gives money and her time to the Catholic Church. Other than that I gave 10 bucks to some greasy looking homeless guys in front of a drug store in San Diego last month. They immediately split to buy drugs, I guess, so I think that may have been a mistake.

Re: Kickstarter, I donate if I like the project, so I guess my standard is pretty emotional/subjective. Recently, I gave $4 to Seth Godin for his new book (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/297519465/the-icarus-deception-why-make-art-new-from-seth-go) and I’ve donated to a video game project that didn’t meet its goal.
