They made the switch like June says, and they did it because it’s a lot easier to get people mad than to actually, you know, do something that has real positive results in the real world. It’s theater now, all the time. The Big Bird thing was the best example yet: the money in terms of the overall budget is an eyedropper full, but it’s also not essential to Sesame Street, which makes boatloads of money selling toys. A non-issue, but one that fires up the emotions and lines people up in a nice orderly fashion so the be led sheep-like where the parties want.
They got locked into a battle for the middle of the electorate, whilst the electorate was changing.
The Democrats will be fine; “To The Victor Go The Spoils” hath ever been their battle-call. I’m interested to see what replaces the Republicans. If the GOP runs in 2016 it’ll lose, obviously. My question is whether the party goes full regional (Idahans and Alaskans and Appalachians), if they’ll linger on as an Outer Party (Boehner) – of if they’ll just disband.
They made their primary work hating each other and forgot to do their jobs. I think the whole system is ruined beyond repair

The more power you give government, the more acrimonious the fight to control that power will be.
