Pretty steamy photo. Bogie plays the dick (private investigor), and he’s opening up his hips to show his pistol. Madame Librarian seems impressed.

In the book she had “the fine drawn face of an intelligent jewess”. That’s a term we need to bring back.

In Todd McCarthy’s ace Hawks bio, he quotes Hawks as saying that the scene was never supposed to be as suggestive as it was, but that they did it because “the girl was so damn good-looking. It taught me a great lesson, that if we could do something that was fun, the audience goes right along with you.”
“If we could do something fun, the audience goes right along with you.” Kind of sums of Hawks.
He also says that Malone was so nervous during shooting they had to fill the bottom of her glass with lead to stop her hand from shaking.
