The Question Lady writes:
Why do people think that breakfast is an essential meal? When I was a kid everyone said I had to eat breakfast or I’d 1) get fat, 2) be under-nourished, and 3) my sugar levels would go haywire and I’d be cranky and disruptive in school. But I learned by my late teens that if I skipped breakfast most days I felt better. I lost weight when I skipped it, I felt healthier and I was way less cranky than when I ate it. As for disruptive — well, I was always disruptive regardless of what I ate. What about you? Is breakfast something you can’t wake up and get through the day without?
I used to eat breakfast every day, but then in college one of my best friends didn’t, and said that whenever he did he felt sluggish during the day. I stopped eating breakfast regularly, now almost only when I’m on vacation, and I do think I feel a lot better.

You’d have been better off with a kipper inside you, dear lady.

I never eat breakfast now, hardly ever have. My stomach doesn’t want it and I’m fine. I might have a small cup of kefir but rarely eat anything before 11:00.
I do like Waffle House though.

I think it depends on what you eat, more than anything. When I eat oatmeal I’m ravenous by 11am. A bit of yogurt and I’m fine. Eggs toast and veggies, hungry by lunch but balanced. I think the third works best for me, it seems to get my metabolism going instead of sending me into starvation shutdown-of-metabolism. Most people eat waaaay too many carbs for breakfast.

Basically, it’s a habit. And if you’re in the habit of eating something sweet for breakfast, you’re probably just feeding an addiction. I think that eating a small piece of fish for breakfast along with a handful of berries would be ideal.

No breakfast for me, stopped eatting breakfast in high school. Just not awake enough. About 11am my hunger alarm kicks in. I’ve never been overweight, so don’t know how breakfast would affect weight.
When we go camping I eat breakfast, but we cook it late. I’m always hungry when camping.
