Even Archie — white boy of all white boys — is wondering what happened to the groove!

I am guessing that these kids are listening to The Xx or The National – the whining rubbish which coffeeshops pipe at us. (They piped it at us two years ago, anyway. I don’t know what the SWPLs are making us listen to now.)
Another point they got right – they’re using a vintage tape machine with analog readouts. No mp3’s for these snobs connoisseurs!

and I thought it was just clueless retro imagery, but what could I know about SWPL

The Wife and I were having a decent low-key lunch at a locavore place yesterday … Enjoyed everything but the music on the speakers, which was hiphop (I guess — what do I know?). It was as joyless as a bad drug. Oafish chanting on top of draggy/laggy synthesized beats … It put both of us into a stupor. It really did — we could barely sustain a conversation, not because the music was loud but because it was such a trancey, sullen drag. Exact opposite of dance music, though for all I know maybe kids today dance to stuff like that. Anyway: the Archie cartoon is really prescient. Those synth beats have no spark to ’em.

Clearly Archie did not foresee the greater threat of cutesy ukelele music.
