The Wife and I ate at this highly-praised Japanese restaurant the other evening and thought it more than lived up to the hype, delivering a lot of chic theater and scene-y fun, as well as the best ramen we’ve ever had. The first-class sweet-potato-derived shochu I was served featured poetic campfire overtones, and didn’t hurt the experience one little bit.

What’s the best meal you’ve had out recently?

There’s a new Afghan restaurant that’s fabulous. It has a lot of dishes familiar from Indian but all of it’s really homemade tasting, not the homogeneous glop that a lot of places serve. And the chai is fantastic, it’s actually tea instead of cinnamon sugar milk.

Looks great. I had really great Italian several weeks ago in, believe it or not, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Just goes to show, you never know what’s out there…

Wednesday evening, fish and chips: chips only just passable, but the haddock was superb. Eat it now before the North Sea is empty of fish life.

Going to an event in Hollywood tomorrow night that will have a bunch of food trucks. Hoping to sample some fine fare (and take a few snapz) while I’m there.

Chicago has so much good food and my budget is so damn limited right now, that it drives me crazy!!!
I did take the girls to this place the other day, which is listed in the book 1000 Places To Visit Before You Die and I do think their hot dogs and fries are the greatest on the planet:
