Mindblowing. Let’s all move to Iceland, at least for the summer. Or do you have to be there in the winter to enjoy the really good Northern Lights shows?
Winter; same as in northern Canada. I saw them once in northernmost B.C., but it wasn’t a great show that particular night, like this one; it was very muted, sadly. Still neat, though. I hope to see a better show of them, at some point.
We used to get a more muted version once in a while in Saskatoon, where I did much of my growing up. One night, the lights were more intense than usual and some parents had gotten their children and we were all just standing there in the unpaved street, looking up. (I should add that the “big sky” in Saskatchewan makes a Texas sky look tiny.) The red and aqua splotches looked like a Motherwell, powered by a massive glowlight . This must have been in 1958.
Thanks. You just gave me some new wallpaper for my work computer.
