Totally true about shaving cream. Soap and water is just fine. Never tried oil like in that article. Going to give that a go.

Shaving cream helps you keep track of where you are on your face. But outside of that, it has no function. I often go for months using only soap and water. And, as one of the commenters to that article noted, deodorant is also pointless — although not for the complicated reasons stated. It’s just pointless.

I’ve tried all the “real man” alternatives to shaving cream, and thus far they’ve all been shite. Pine tar soap has probably come the closest as an alternative solution.
