I love “Company,” but having the flagrantly gay Neil P Harris playing the playboy character is too much cognitive dissonance for me. I prefer the Raul Esparza version. Even though Esparza admitted to same-sex relationships, he’s not the Professional Gay that Harris is. And he looks a lot more like a playboy, rather than an overgrown 12 year old. I just can’t buy Harris as that character. And I love how in the Esparaza production the actors all played the instruments as well. And he does a good “Marry Me a Little,” one of the best moments from the musical.
