The main sources are my RSS feed, FB, svd.se and the NYT, probably in that order, with concentrated forays into other relevant media to follow specific stories. I also listen to a few news-oriented podcasts. I haven’t subscribed to a physical paper for several years, nor do I get any magazines that I pay for any more (the Economist was the last to fall, a couple years ago). I used Google News quite a bit when it first came out, but it became uninteresting all of a sudden; they seemed to have applied a USA Todayifying algorithm that made it much more anodyne than it was at first.
Main daily sources: Real Clear Politics (and all of its real clear cousins) and one daily newspaper still: Boston Globe.
Still some subscriptions to periodicals, like the Economist. I just let The New Republic lapse after a continuous subscription since around 1974. I don’t miss it though I guess it had become part of my identity.
Scrounge around on Drudge not infrequently. Instapundit for links, Andrew Sullivan for some balance.
Higher ed news from the Chronicle and Inside Higher Ed.
Also I have been watching news on TV more than I used to (I used to always be working 6:30-7).
There I watch CBS, and PBS News Hour from time to time too.
Radio: fair amount of NPR.
So my right tilting side is covered by Drudge, Instapundit, etc.
Center covered by Real Clear (which used to tilt slightly right in its article selection but now seems fair ‘n balanced),Economist and Sullivan.
Mainstream left covered by network news, PBS, NPR and Globe.
I regret to say I have no regular feed for harder left, progressive ideas.. I do sometimes visit places like the Nation and Kos, but not too regularly..
