      The idea seems to be to encourage men to get prostate exams by making fun of them for being potentially “creepy.” As to why anyone would come up with such an approach…your guess is as good as mine.

    Tough-ass, hard-as-nails women face up to their health problems and beat the crap out of them with their Rite-Aid cards. Self-deluded men-children basically masturbate and wander uselessly through the world in their bathrobes. We’re seeing the development of new gender roles: the hardy, provider woman and the pointless immature male. The sad thing is, these ads seem to be pandering to either gender’s current self image. Infantile-masturbator-man is a pretty common figure in male-directed commercials these days. Infantile (white) masturbator man’s natural habitat is the Super Bowl commercial. Notice in the prostate cancer commercial that it’s the black man who passes judgement through his skeptical glance at infantile-masturbator-man at the gas station. Great post!
