In the news:
TOPEKA, Kan. — The Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., who founded a Kansas church widely known for its protests at military funerals and antigay sentiments, is in a health care facility, a church spokesman said.
Phelps, 84, is being cared for in a Shawnee County health center, Westboro Baptist Church spokesman Steve Drain said Sunday. Drain would not identify the facility.
I can see why the facility remains unidentified. It would be awfully tempting for people to show up with signs thanking God for the development.

Them Westboro Baptist folks are either simply shakedown artists (they sue people who assault them when they protest military funerals, etc.) or are deep moles, being used to discredit social conservatism. Either way, I hope they don’t outlast their founder, and I hope his days are finally almost over…

Yes, there’s always been something a bit suspicious about the whole Phelps outfit. Always smelled like disinfo to me. It would be fitting if a bunch of people gathered around Ol’ Fred’s bed waving signs and yelling “Croak! Croak! Croak!” but I suppose that’s too much to hope for.
