The past week has been an unpleasant one around Rancho Pensier. I found myself needing cheer and laughter in large quantities. I had no choice but to turn to that cache of fail-safe funny things that never fail to improve the darkest turn of mind. See if one or more of these don’t fix your blue mood, at least temporarily. They worked for me.

The “Where The Buggalo Roam” and “Parasites Lost” episodes of Futurama.
This clip from “Wonder Man” with Danny Kaye, starting at 5:20, or the beginning if you’ve never seen it. About 90 seconds of pure distilled Kaye lunacy.

Try HBOs sadly forgotten cartoon, “The Life and Times of Tim.” Apparently, I’m the only person on earth to ever watch this show. Maybe that says something, but I find it hilarious. All the episodes are on YouTube. It’s no longer on HBOGo, that’s how little HBO thinks of it! But with an opening episode called “Angry Unpaid Hooker,” how do you go wrong?

Sad that films and TV so seldom aim for the belly laugh nowadays and favor the wink ‘n nod or tongue in cheek or fart in pants. Wanda is one of the few that gets me actually laughing. Also: Airplane, Clockwise, parts of Lost in America, Princess Bride. Also:
