Gainfully employed for thirty years, including as one of those high paid college administrators faculty complain about. Earned Ph.D. late in life and converted to the faculty side. Those damn administrators are ruining everything.
Ah, Emmit Rhodes was one of the first and greatest of the Not-Beatles, beginning with his 1960s band The Merry-Go-Round, and their wonderful singles “Live” and “You’re a Very Lovely Woman”. Emmit played all the instruments on the album pictured above. He went on to become a depressive recluse whose sad story can be read at the link below. An Emmit Rhodes greatest hits collection (there are a couple of them out there) is an excellent purchase. He was a smart kid with a great sense of melody.
Where to begin? I just discovered this video from Utopia’s (Todd Rundgren) sublime “Deface the Music” album from the 80s, including “I Just Want to Touch You”. More to come …
Hey, Fenster, are you OK? You haven’t posted anything for a while. I’ve been reduced to arguing with the linguists over at “West Hunter”. You’re the last intelligent, civil liberal I know, if anything happens to you we’re going to have to have you stuffed and displayed at the Brookings Institute…
With all due respect, come the revolution it’ll be you that will be stuffed and on display . . .
Just joking of course. I don’t have the revolutionary gene.
As to posting, a light lull has set in. I wanted to see if I could post one a day for a while there, just to see if I could do it. So there was some culture blogging and some other stuff, too, including forays into public issues that seem to have branded me as a liberal. I’ll get round to that stuff again, so you’ll have a chance to write in again, too.
Glad that you’re not ready for stuffing, Fenster. Neither am I. Us mature gentlemen like you and I and Paleo Retiree have to watch out for each other. Gotta keep these kids in line, and off our lawns…
