    I wouldn’t want to politicize the song too much. (And I realize you are really commenting on how politicized the song COULD be in this phantastic unreal age of identity politics.) For me, speaking personally, I listen to this song with great memories of beach trips with one’s “tres douce amie” in June/July of ’68. Summer blonde and Johnny Rivers and Rehoboth.
