Two things: my resolution for 2017 is to make lists of movies/TV I watch and music I listen to, because I can’t remember shit anymore. (Side note, have you ever checked out Steven Soderberg’s lists? Good stuff. http://extension765.com/soderblogh/25-seen-read-2015 )And, where did you see Lost City of Z? Been looking forward to that one, I loved the book.

    • I track my movies on Letterboxd and my books on goodreads. Haven’t found a similar site for music, although I’m sure one exists.

I saw Z at the New York Film Festival. Not sure why it’s not being released until spring of next year. James Gray’s movies are marketed poorly.

This might be asking too much, but perhaps two or three sentences for each of your top ten- a quick summary and why you liked it. For example, I wouldn’t be interested in a rom-com midnight in paris type film, of which there appear to be a couple in your top 10, but I will definitely make time to watch Manchester by the Sea.

A comment on one of your films listed, Sicario.

Rarely have I been so simultaneously engrossed in and annoyed by a film. The cinematographer should be beaten with sticks. The sound engineer should be shot. The main character is terrible, unrealistic and unlikable. I give it a 9. I can’t think of another film this technically flawed that I liked more.
